I see ddos thrown around a lot and Im highly skeptical.

I think its something people say because people accept it.

Another good company, Tragic plays TF2 and is very helpful.

My team uses Tragic Servers on recommendation from another team leader.

That's probably the fault of the person who purchased the server. Tragic themselves don't tend to lag too often.

I get worse experiences on valve servers than tragic servers. Also I hate it when people say but you have a low ping.

I am currently using but I'm not pleased with the service provided at the price I'm paying.

I'm paying /month for a 20 slot server (highlander team) along with a mumble server which is provided free-of-charge.

I've done some research and found /month on nfoservers and /month on tragicservers however I'm unaware of the performance for these providers. (I'm in the US by the way)NFO is probably the most high-quality server you can buy for TF2.Many university networks and proxies block required ports for Steam operation - please consult your network administrator to ensure the required ports are open if you are using a university network or a proxy. If you notice that your Steam connection only has issues during certain hours of the day (for example in the evenings between 5pm and 11pm), it is possible that your ISP is blocking or "shaping" your connection. If you're only using the server for matches and scrims and you're willing to put a little more work into it to save a lot of money, I've used both Amazon Web Services and Google Compute Engine to host cloud TF2, and they work great. The advantage here is that you can start and stop the server at any time and you're charged by the hour (less than 10 cents an hour).

You could also upgrade it to have more slots if you're doing hl.
